People with sensitive skin often use special cleansers, lotions, and other gentle skincare items. But one product that's often overlooked is laundry detergent. When you toss your clothes and linens in the wash, you might think the soap is completely eliminated in the rinse cycle. However, you can expect trace amounts to remain on the fabric, which can irritate the skin.
Gentle detergents such as Hanky Planty's Antibacterial Liquid Laundry Detergent Fragrance Free is specially formulated to avoid common skin irritants. If you or anyone else in your household requires a gentler formula, don't worry - it doesn't mean your clothes, bedding, and towels will be any less clean, fluffy, or fresh.

Lauryl Glucoside is a natural, biodegradable, and mild surfactant (cleansing agent) that reduces liquid-based products' viscosity, making it easier to apply and rinse. It is naturally derived from palm kernel oil, corn sugar or coconut, and research has shown that it is not a skin irritant while safe for use in skincare products.
Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride) are ammonium salts with at least one positively charged nitrogen atom, typically linked to four alkyl or benzyl groups. These compounds kill bacteria and viruses by disrupting the structures of proteins and lipid membranes, making them highly effective sanitizers and disinfectants. Sodium Phytate is a fully neutralised (pH of ~12) sodium salt of Phytic Acid, a saturated cyclic acid. It can also help moisturise, improve skin elasticity, and balance oily skin. Sodium Phytate is an all-natural chelating agent; chelating agents bind to free metals and stabilise the product by helping to prevent undesirable metal-catalysed reactions.
